Paul Babbitt - 1st Congressional District in Arizona
Paul Babbitt, running against incumbent Republican Rick Renzi, is a member of a family that has played a prominent role in Arizona and national politics. He has been elected to local office, serving as Mayor of Flagstaff and on the Flagstaff City Council, before becoming a Coconino County Supervisor, a position he has held since 1986. Paul believes the Bush administration's "Healthy Forests" Initiative take the wrong approach, and supports a more comprehensive forest management policy.
Don Barbieri - 5th Congressional District in Washington
Don Barbieri is running for the open seat vacated by Republican George Nethercutt. The 5th District in Washington was once held by former Speaker Tom Foley. Barbieri is a successful businessman, having spent 32 years as the head of West Coast Hospitality, which operated Red Lion and WestCoast hotels. Ben Chandler - 6th Congressional District in Kentucky
Livability issues are of particular interest in the 6th District, home to Kentucky's famed Bluegrass Region. Development statewide has accelerated in recent years. Over the past decade growth in Kentucky - measured in developing acreage- outpaced every state in the country but one.
With your help, LIVPac was able to invest $7000 in the Chandler campaign and provide nine volunteers to work with Ben Chandler, who recently won the special election in Kentuckty's 6th Congressional District. Chandler is no novice in the political arena. He was first elected Attorney General of Kentucky in 1995 and reelected without any opposition to a second term in 1999. Prior to that, he served a four-year term as Kentucky State Auditor. Chandler has been a conservation advocate and stopped an out-of-state oil company from drilling in the Breaks Interstate Park, an area commonly referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the South." The Sierra Club also endorsed Chandler.

Matt Connealy - 1st Congressional District in Nebraska
Congress lost a key moderate Republican when Doug Bereuter resigned from the House earlier this year. Congressman Blumenauer worked closely with Doug Bereuter on flood insurance reform and other issues in a bipartisan way. In the race to replace Bereuter, Matt Connealy is in a competitive position. Connealy is a farmer and a member of the Nebraska Unicameral with deep roots in the community and state.
He is endorsed by such groups as the Sierra Club and the National Association of Realtors and he understands the need to fund conservation titles in the farm bill that are good for agriculture and good for the environment. He helped to lead the Nebraska Wind Energy Task Force and will be an important moderate voice, in the tradition of Doug Bereuter. This seat has the potential to add another thoughtful member to the House of Representatives, and an important ally to work on agricultural issues important to the livability of many communities.
Teresa Daly - 2nd Congressional District in Minnesota
Teresa has deep roots in both the public and private sectors throughout this suburban Twin Cities district. She was elected to the Burnsville City Council in 2002, serves as the President of the Association of Career Professionals International and is Vice President of Right Management Consultants. She opposes drilling for oil in the Alaskan Arctic, our National Parks, or off the California and Florida coasts. Stephanie Herseth - South Dakota At Large
Stephanie Herseth grew up on her family's fourth-generation farm and ranch near Houghton, South Dakota, thirty-five miles northeast of Aberdeen. She has worked on energy and telecommunications issues for the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission in Pierre and organized commission meetings with tribal leaders regarding utility regulation on the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Indian reservations. She also worked with the Legal Counsel for the Elderly, providing assistance to those unable to afford legal services on issues relating to housing, Medicare and Social Security.

Darlene Hooley - District 5 in Oregon (Salem and Portland)
Congresswoman Darlene Hooley is a strong advocate in Congress for the environment, particularly regarding natural resources in the Pacific Northwest. She has worked with the Trust for Public Land and local authorities to conserve critical habitats for salmon recovery efforts. Jon Jennings - 8th Congressional District in Indiana
Jon faces Republican incumbent John Hosteller. In 2002, Linda Sanchez was elected to represent the newly created 39th CD in California.
